Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce won his first game in charge.
Wednesday currently have a mammoth squad, which looks bloated in all areas.
Bruce has already gone on record to suggest that he wants to trim the numbers in the Owls’ squad, as reported by the Sheffield Star.
And the Wednesday manager said today: “I think the big problem any manager would face here though with the squad as I’ve said repeatedly is that it’s too big, so that’s something that we’ll try and address.
“Last week I took 20 players, left seven behind and had three injuries. It’s not great in that respect.”
Wednesday could now see a number of senior players miss out on even being in their match day squad at the weekend.
Bruce is due to be in the Hillsborough dugout for the first time tomorrow, when Wednesday take on Reading.
The Owls were victorious in Bruce’s first game in charge, as they beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Portman Road.
And Wednesday will be hoping that they are able to pick up another victory, to continue building momentum after Bruce’s arrival.
