Aston Villa are expected to be busy during the transfer window.
Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters regarding his plans for the January transfer window, and insisted that neither him nor club owner Dr Tony Xia are considering selling any of their best players just to fund moves for potential incomings, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
The Villans currently sit in fifth position in the Championship table, just five points adrift of the automatic promotion spots, and Bruce will be hoping to bring in one or two quality additions, in an attempt to really kick his side on during the final third of their campaign.
The problem for the 57-year-old is that he doesn’t actually have that much money available with which to spend, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, so he will have to be thrifty in his recruitment.
With this in mind, Villa fans have been concerned that their club might be looking to sell some of their better payers, in order to fund a January spending spree, but Bruce quashed the idea of that happening, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
“But I don’t think we would lose one of our better players in January. I won’t allow that to happen and I’m sure my boss (owner Tony Xia) won’t want it either.”
Villa currently have some of their key men out injured and unavailable for selection, so an injection of fresh blood this month could be vital to their hopes of promotion.
Whether Bruce manages to do that though, remains to be seen.
