Aston Villa will be looking for a run of victories now as they look to climb the table.
Aston Villa Manager Steve Bruce
Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to the media during the aftermath of his side’s vital 1-0 win over Derby County yesterday, and explained how his side finally seem to have that little bit of luck on their side, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Villans remain in 17th spot in the Championship table, but they have increased the gap between themselves and 22nd placed Wigan Athletic to eight points.
Their win over Steve McClaren’s men was their first victory since they beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Boxing Day.
And Bruce spoke to the media during his post-match press conference, expressing his delight with his side’s three points yesterday, and shared a funny story in which he believes could have been the moment where his luck turned, as quoted by AVFC.co.uk:

“Sometimes you get the breaks. We haven’t had many of them over the past few weeks. We needed something to change. I was having a bite to eat with my daughter [on Friday night] and the waiter dropped a pint of blackcurrant and lemonade all over her. She was head to toe in it and I thought ‘the luck is still not going our way’. But I will pour a pint of blackcurrant and lemonade over her next time! I will tip it right over her head – whatever it takes, it’s changed the luck!”
Next up on the agenda for Villa is another home game against Bristol City, before they make the trip to the New York Stadium to take on Rotherham United.
And if they can take six points form those two outings then who knows how high up the Championship table they can climb this season, and maybe a spot in the play-offs isn’t entirely out of reach just yet.
