The Aston Villa boss has struggled to get his team performing to acceptable levels of late.
During his post-match press conference, Villa boss Steve Bruce offered an apology for his side’s woeful display in their 3-0 loss at Brentford, labelling the performance as the worst during his short tenure at the club, as quoted by Aston Villa’s official club website.
Bruce’s verdict on new Villa signings
The Villans now sit in 14th position in the Championship table, a full 10 points adrift of sixth placed Derby County, and their fans are becoming increasingly concerned with the manner in which their team has been losing games of late.
Bruce’s men have taken just two points from the last 15 available, and really have their work cut-out in their hopes of making the promotion play-off spots come May.

The Villa boss spoke to reporters in the aftermath of their 3-0 defeat last night, and offered a brutally frank assessment of his side’s performance against Brentford, as quoted by AVFC.co.uk:
“I am the manager and that’s a few now where I have had to come out and apologise. That was arguably the worst. There are some times in your career where you feel embarrassed – that ranks as one of them. We were abject in everything we did. As soon as they scored, everything fell to bits. That’s where we are at the moment. I will do my damndest. We must find a bit of resilience. I can only apologise. You have to take it and respond.”

The Midlands outfit must surely be targeting maximum points from their next three games now, as they look to get back into contention for the promotion places.

A trip to Nottingham Forest is followed by back-to-back home games against Ipswich Town and Barnsley respectively, and only three wins will be deemed as acceptable by the Villa fans.
