Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa signed Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abraham on loan from Everton and Chelsea respectively in the summer transfer window.

New signing Yannick Bolasie of Aston Villa poses for a picture as he is unveiled as a new signing, at the club's training ground at Bodymoor Heath on August 24, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has suggested to the club’s official website that Everton-owned winger Yannick Bolasie may not start against Blackburn Rovers in the Championship this weekend.

Bolasie joined Championship club Villa on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Everton in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old winger has been building up his match fitness in recent weeks, and earlier this week, The Express & Star quoted Villa manager Bruce as saying that the former Crystal Palace star will be ready for the match against Rovers away from home at Ewood Park on Saturday evening.

However, Bruce has suggested today that it could be too early for Bolasie to feature from the start against Blackburn.

The Villa manager, though, has said that Chelsea-owned striker Tammy Araham will play against Rovers.

The 20-year-old England international striker – who earns £2.6 million per year as salary, according to Spotrac.com – moved to Villa on loan from Premier League side Chelsea in the summer transfer window, and him starting against Rovers will enhance their chances of winning this weekend.

Bruce told Villa’s official website: “Tammy will play. He scored in the international break which can only help him. He’s a very good player. We are delighted to have him here.

“It was a touch and go for a long time. But patience was worth it in the end. All summer I was thinking ‘can we get him?’ In the end, we got him with five minutes to play.

“I think it’s still a bit early for Yannick but he will be involved. We will look ahead to Tuesday and Saturday and see where we are with that.”

Need to win

Villa’s recent form and results have not been great, and the Villans do need to put together a run of positive results soon.

Maximum points this weekend would be great for Villa, who reached the Championship playoff final last weekend.
