Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed to The Birmingham Mail that he plans to hold talks with Ross McCormack about his future.

McCormack is back at Villa after a loan spell at Melbourne City in the A-League, scoring 14 goals in 17 appearances in the process, according to The Birmingham Mail.

The 31-year-old striker was sent out on loan to Australia after failing to make an impact at Villa, having joined the Villans from Fulham in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million.

Villa manager Bruce has explained the current situation regarding the former Rangers and Leeds United striker, and has stated that he will hold talks with the Scotland international striker.

Bruce told The Birmingham Mail: “McCormack looks as if he’s come to an end at Melbourne. I’ve given him a couple of weeks off. He can’t go anywhere else because he’s played for two other clubs.

“When he comes back after having a couple of weeks off I’ll have a chat with him, see where he’s up to and we’ll go from there.

“I would have liked him to have stayed in Australia and play because I think he’s benefited from playing. But he’ll come back in and we’ll see how he is.”

McCormack has done well at Villa, but perhaps Villa manager Bruce should give him a second chance.

The former Fulham star knows the Championship inside out, and the 31-year-old could chip in with importance goals.

Villa can still finish in the top two, and having a player of McCormack’s quality and experience in the squad can only be beneficial for the squad.
