Lewis Grabban joined Aston Villa on loan in January.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce addressed the media yesterday, ahead of his side’s huge clash with Wolves at Villa Park tomorrow, and raved about the quality of Lewis Grabban, suggesting that he is better than he originally thought he was, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The 30-year-old forward joined the Villans on loan on transfer deadline day in January, after cutting his loan spell with Sunderland short, and he has made an instant impact at Villa Park, scoring three goals in five Championship outings thus far.

Villa are currently in great shape in the Championship table, and sit in third spot, four points adrift of second placed Cardiff City, having lost just one league game since their 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Boxing Day.

Grabban has played a key role in his side’s recent success, and Bruce admitted to reporters that he has been surprised at just how good the 30-year-old striker is, as quoted by the Express & Star:

Manager of Aston Villa Steve Bruce during the pre season friendly match between Aston Villa and Watford at Villa Park on July 29, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

“Just at the right time we have a striker who is bang in form. To get 12 goals at Sunderland in 19 appearances, for a team that is bottom of the league, was enough for us to make a move for him. If I can say it, he is a better player than I thought he was. That’s always nice for a manager.”

If Villa are to have any chance whatsoever of securing automatic promotion this season, they must surely beat Wolves tomorrow evening, and Grabban will be expected to produce the goods once again, if they are to do just that.
