Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told The Birmingham Mail that Chelsea-owned striker Tammy Abraham will get better.

Bruce made the comments following Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday away from home at Villa Park in the Championship this past Saturday.

Abraham, who joined Villa on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Chelsea in the summer transfer window, started the match against Wednesday and played for the entire 90 minutes.

The 20-year-old striker – who earns £50,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – did not have a good game, but Villa manager Bruce does not seem to be too concerned.

Bruce told The Birmingham Mail about Abraham: “It’s the first time since Christmas since Tammy has played three games in a week. He’ll get better no doubt.

“He’s got no point to prove to me. He’s a very good player. Two years ago he scored 20-odd goals in the division.”

Quality striker

Abraham is proven at the Championship level, and there is no reason for Villa fans to doubt that the striker will not score 15 to 20 goals in the league this season.

The 20-year-old striker scored 23 goals and provided three assists in 40 Championship starts for Bristol City during the 2016-17 campaign, according to WhoScored.

So far this campaign, the England international has scored one goal in three league matches for Villa, according to WhoScored.
