Aston Villa were too good for Wigan Athletic in the end yesterday.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce addressed the media yesterday, after his side’s last-gasp win over Wigan Athletic at Villa Park, and raved about the quality of Jack Grealish, suggesting that he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 22-year-old was the subject of interest from Tottenham throughout the course of the summer transfer window, but he eventually remained with the Villans, and that will be a huge boost to Steve Bruce’s side heading into this season.
Grealish is now widely considered to be Villa’s most important player, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of earning promotion back to the Premier League this season, the young midfielder will have to be at his very best for the entirety of the campaign.
Bruce addressed the media yesterday, and offered high words of praise for his talisman, suggesting that he was by far and away the best player on the pitch against Wigan, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“He was a class act. The way him and his family have been the whole last few weeks has been class. For me, he was head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch. You really do get your money’s worth when he plays. He was terrific.”
Next up for Villa is a trip to Yeovil in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, and Bruce will be hoping that Grealish is once again at his brilliant best.
