The Aston Villa new-boy showed his quality against Wigan Athletic yesterday.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters after his side’s dramatic late victory over Wigan Athletic yesterday, and raved about the quality of summer signing John McGinn, suggesting that the Scotland international will become a real crowd favourite at Villa Park, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Villa brought the 23-year-old into the club from Hibernian earlier this week, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £2.75 million, and many are backing him to take the Championship by storm this season.
Many thought that the Scot was being brought in to fill jack Grealish’s shoes, with the 22-year-old being heavily linked with an exit from Villa Park, but the two players proved yesterday that they are more than capable of playing together.
Bruce raved about the quality of McGinn, when speaking to reporters after yesterday’s game, suggesting that signing him would not have been possible three weeks ago, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“Three weeks ago we couldn’t have bought him – it’s as simple as that. But the owners have given us the impetus and backed me to go out and get some younger, fresher players like him. That’s what we’re now looking for. He’s had a terrific debut. I said on Friday he’d be a crowd favourite. I think he was today.”
McGinn will be looking to continue his fine form when Villa head to Yeovil for the Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday night.
