The Aston Villa defender has been superb since joining the club.

Villa boss Steve Bruce raved about the influence that John Terry has had on the football club since moving to the Midlands in the summer, highlighting how the 36-year-old is utterly professional in everything that he does, during an exclusive interview with the club’s official website.

Terry joined Bruce’s revolution at Villa Park during the summer transfer window, on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with Chelsea, and has played every single game for the Villans so far this season.

At 36, the former England captain is defying his advancing years, with his consistent levels of performance for Bruce’s side.

And the Villa boss found time to laud Terry’s efforts since moving to Villa Park, during an exclusive interview with AVFC.co.uk, admitting that he wished he was 10 years younger:

“How to be right. How to be right as a pro, how to handle yourself, how to conduct yourself. He’s not missed a training session. He’s not missed a game yet, touch wood. And he’s 36 and hadn’t played for the best part of 18 months. But his desire and his attitude is key, of course his ability has always been there, his left foot and his right foot and his bravery. I wish he was 26.”

Terry’s quality will be tested to the max on Sunday, when his Aston Villa side head across the Midlands to take on bitter rivals Birmingham City in the Championship, where a win would consolidate their place inside the play-off spots.

The second city derby is always packed full of incident, controversy and heated passion, three things that Terry has become more than accustomed to throughout his years in the game.
