Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has not been fit enough to feature since making his return to St. James’ Park.

Carroll has not been fit enough to feature for Newcastle ever since he made his return to St. James’ Park this summer.
The target-man forward has joined in with light Newcastle training this week though.
And Carroll is now hoping to get an all-clear from an injury specialist in London today, as he looks to take the next step in his recovery.
“We need more good news from his specialist,” Bruce said.
“We hope it is. He has gone down to London today.
“I have always said it is always difficult to put a timescale, he has joined in and worked hard. He has a smile on his face.
“Touch wood he gets the good news.”
If Carroll is given the nod to return to full training with Newcastle then his return should happen sooner rather than later.
Bruce will be hoping that Carroll can make an immediate impact at St. James’ Park, as his side would be boosted by an increased attacking threat.

Joelinton has shown signs of promise after signing in the summer, but only has one goal in his first four games, while Miguel Almiron has failed to hit the back of the net all season.
Carroll’s aerial prowess would add another dimension to Newcastle’s attack, and if they can keep him fit there is a real feeling that he could force his way into Bruce’s starting line-up.
The Magpies are next in action against Liverpool this weekend, where Carroll won’t be fit enough to start.
