Jonathan Kodjia had to be taken off during Aston Villa’s match against Birmingham City at the weekend.

Kodjia injured his ankle in the second city derby, and he was replaced for his own protection.
The Ivorian apparently wanted to stay on the field, but he was replaced by Scott Hogan for the last 10 minutes of the contest.

And Bruce said: “He’s gone over on his ankle. The same one he had in the summer.
“We don’t know how bad it is now but certainly he looks a big doubt for Wednesday.
“You can never tell with Kodj. He’s disappointed because he didn’t want to come off.”
Villa will be hoping that Kodjia’s injury is nothing serious, as he is such a pivotal player for them.

Kodjia missed much of the early part of the season with injury, and his return to the first-team has coincided with a much improved run of form for Bruce’s side.
Villa drew 0-0 with Birmingham at the weekend, and Kodjia came close to breaking the deadlock.
The former Bristol City man was left cursing his luck, as he hit the cross bar with a fierce effort.
Villa are currently in sixth place in the Championship table, with their next match coming against Preston North End.
