James Bree joined Aston Villa from Barnsley during the January transfer window.
Steve Bruce has admitted to Aston Villa’s official website that he is still waiting to discover the full extent of James Bree’s current injury problem.
Bree was ruled out of playing for Villa against Ipswich Town at the weekend, after damaging his knee in training.
Bruce says that he is optimistic that the youngster will make a quick recovery, but Villa still need to assess what is wrong with the youngster.
“James got a knock on Friday,” Bruce explained.

“His knee was twice the size of what it is normally.
“We don’t think it’s anything serious but we don’t know the full extent of it.
“Unfortunately he has a huge swelling. We hope it disappears and he’s ready for Tuesday.”
Bree was likely to start for Villa against Ipswich, if he had been fit enough to play.

However, in his absence, the claret and blues failed to end their poor run of results.
Villa were beaten 1-0 by Ipswich Town, and they are still yet to win in 2017.
Bruce’s side are now in 16th place in the Championship table, and their play off hopes for this season are surely over.
Villa are next in action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Bree’s former club, Barnsley, at Villa Park.
