Steve Bruce praises Sheffield Wednesday duo Aarons and Lazaar

Sheffield Wednesday signed Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar on loan from Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce has told the club’s official Twitter page that he has been impressed with the performances of Newcastle United-owned duo Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar.

Winger Aarons and left-back Lazaar joined Championship club Wednesday on loan from Premier League club Newcastle in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old and the 27-year-old started the match for the Owls against Swansea City at the weekend, as Bruce’s side won 3-1 at the Hillsborough Stadium.

Wednesday manager Bruce has praised Aarons and Lazaar for their displays against the Swans.

Promising starts

Aarons and Lazaar have struggled at Newcastle, but the winger and the left-back have been encouraging starts to their respectively loan spells at Wednesday.

The Owls are unlikely to finish in the top six of the Championship this season, but the fans will want to see some good football and a few goals.

Wednesday are 15th in the Championship table at the moment with 44 points from 33 matches.
