Aston Villa picked up a 3-0 victory over Barnsley in their most recent contest.

Villa manager Steve Bruce reacts after a near miss during the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Middlesbrough at Villa Park on September 12, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Steve Bruce has told Aston Villa’s official website that he simply cannot drop Albert Adomah, after the winger’s latest performance against Barnsley.

Adomah played in Villa’s second and third games of the season, but was then dropped to the substitutes’ bench for three successive matches.

Bruce has since recalled Adomah to Villa’s line-up, and his displays against Middlesbrough and Barnsley have caught the eye.

The Ghanian winger scored twice as Villa beat Barnsley 3-0 in their latest contest.

And Bruce now claims that he simply cannot leave Adomah out of his starting team any more.

The experienced boss said: “I am delighted for Albert because the good thing about him is that he didn’t sulk when I left him out.

“He has responded in the right way as if to say ‘don’t you dare leave me out anymore.’

“That’s the response you want – that comes with competition.

“He’s bounced into it this week and he’s playing next week now too. How can I leave him out after that?”

Villa have a wealth of attacking options available to them, but it seems that Adomah currently has nailed down his place in Bruce’s team.

Villa will be hoping that their victory over Barnsley can kick start their campaign, after what has been a disappointing start.

The claret and blues are currently in 13th place in the Championship table, and are under pressure to start moving up to the standings, even at this early stage of the season.
