Aston Villa prospect Keinan Davis impressed on his full debut at the weekend.

Steve Bruce has confirmed to the Express and Star that he cannot leave Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis out of his team in the League Cup tonight.

Davis was handed his full debut for Villa at the weekend, when they played against Norwich City and picked up a 4-2 victory.

On that occasion the youngster was in brilliant form, as he led the line expertly for the claret and blues.

And Bruce has confirmed that he now cannot leave the 19-year-old out of his Villa team, ahead of their match against Wigan Athletic, with his only concern being over the youngster’s fitness levels.

“I have got to pick a team and how can I leave him (Davis) out? I don’t think I can,” said Bruce.

“We have to look at that because to play him Tuesday and on Friday may be too much. He has come off and is exhausted. I think he will sleep for a week. So he should.”

Davis is one of a number of Villa prospects who have impressed when handed a chance in the first-team.

Andre Green also caught the eye in Villa’s last match, as they beat Norwich.

The claret and blues may not be prioritising a cup run this season, but beating Wigan would help to build confidence.

Villa have made a poor opening to the Championship campaign, with the pressure building on Bruce.
