Steve Bruce has told BBC West Midlands Sport that Aston Villa have a player on their hands, if Yannick Bolasie keeps performing to the standard he did yesterday.

Bolasie made his home debut for Villa against Rotherham United last night and he made a big impact.

The winger scored a diving header, as Villa collected an important three points.

And Bruce was impressed by what he saw from the Everton loanee. He said: “If he stays fit and his knee is right and he keeps playing like he did today then we have a very good player on our hands.”

Bolasie must now be pushing for a start at Villa, with the excitement building over the impact he could make for Bruce’s side.

Villa ended a run of six matches without a win by picking up the three points last night.

Bolasie and fellow new signing Tammy Abraham were the scorers for Bruce’s men, and they already seem to have improved Villa’s attacking options.

Villa’s victory last night has pushed them up to sixth place in the Championship table.

The Villans are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Sheffield Wednesday.
