The former Aston Villa and Hull City manager is facing a summer rebuild at Sheffield Wednesday.

Steve Bruce is hoping to emulate his loan market success at Aston Villa and Hull City with new club Sheffield Wednesday.
Bruce utilised his relationship with some of England’s top sides to secure several high-quality temporary recruits – notably Isaac Hayden [Arsenal to Hull], Sam Johnstone [Manchester United to Aston Villa] and Tammy Abraham [Chelsea to Villa] – in his two most recent roles.
And with Sheffield Wednesday heading towards a second successive summer window on the wrong side of the EFL’s Profit & Sustainability rules, the 58-year-old’s contacts could become crucial.
Speaking at his pre-Millwall pres conference on Monday, Bruce told the Sheffield Star: “Nothing really happened in the last window as people do not want to let their good players go.
“Now, in the summer, you can register your interest with the big clubs and use your connections – and can you get two or three young ones from Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal?
“That is what we did at Aston Villa and Hull. The loan ones can be just as important as those who you bring through your doors [on permanent contracts].”

Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday squad could be cut from 32 players to 19 by the time the summer window opens on 1 July.
The Owls have nine players out of contract and four loan deals expiring, and it remains to be seen which of those, if any, can be kept on.
Which Premier League youngsters should the former Aston Villa and Hull boss target at Sheffield Wednesday?
