Aston Villa are currently in 12th place in the Championship table.

Steve Bruce has confirmed at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on Aston Villa’s official Facebook page, that he is anticipating a busy summer at Villa Park.

Villa currently have a very bloated squad, with a number of their fringe players out on loan.

And Bruce admits that a big turnover of players can be expected at Villa in the coming months.

“We still have a lot of work to do be done. We only need reminding of our performance last week, that happens too often,” Bruce said.

“We have a busy summer. We have a big clear up to do. We have eight or nine out on loan, their futures have to be resolved.

“I’m expecting a busy summer. The phone has already started to ring.

“We sit down next week with the bosses and plan a strategy of what we’re going to do. We already have a plan in place.”

Villa invested heavily in their first-team squad last summer and in January, but they have endured a disappointing season in the Championship.

The claret and blues went into the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion, but they have never threatened the top six.

Bruce will be under pressure to make that Villa are much improved next term – and he clearly feels that additions are needed, if his side are to meet expectations.

Villa’s final match of the season comes on Sunday, when they take on league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion at Villa Park.
