Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce was sacked as Aston Villa manager in October.
Steve Bruce has admitted that he questioned what he did ‘wrong’ and whether to continue in management following his sacking from Aston Villa.
The four-time promotion winner, who had been in charge of the Midlands outfit for two years, was sacked in October following a poor run of results.
The former Manchester United defender never released an official statement following his sacking and was replaced by Brentford boss Dean Smith in the dugout.
Now, he has opened up about his departure as he revealed the two questions he asked himself and made a huge admission about what he was contemplating.
“I needed a break,” Bruce told the Football Daily, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail. “Sometimes you look at yourself and say to yourself ‘what have I done wrong?’
“I thought long and hard about whether I want to do it again, but a phone call was made and before I know it I’m back on the wagon again.”
Bruce, who is currently in Barbados enjoying some family time following the passing of both his parents last year, was named Sheffield Wednesday boss earlier this month.
He will officially take the post at the start of February and will be hoping to push the Yorkshire club up the Championship table.
Wednesday, who are sitting in 16th place, are three places below and four points behind Villa in the table, with Smith’s side yet to register three points in 2019.
Bruce is set to reunite with his old club at the start of April when Villa visit Hillsborough – Wednesday beat Villa 2-1 during the reverse fixture in September.
