Aston Villa are set to take on Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Steve Bruce manager of Aston Villa looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Aston Villa and Bristol City at Villa Park on February 28, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy could be given given a golden chance at Aston Villa, as the club’s injury problems continue to mount.

Villa have suffered the blow of losing Scott Hogan recently, and that was compounded when Jonathan Kodjia picked up an injury on international duty.

Kodjia broke down in training while representing the Ivory Coast in midweek, and Steve Bruce has admitted that the forward could be set for a lengthy absence.

With Ross McCormack sent out on loan, it leaves Bruce’s striking options looking very short, at a crucial stage of the season.

And it may just be that he has to rely on the youngsters to get Villa through.

Bruce has already seen the talent that Villa posses in their youth ranks with Keinan Davis turning out to be a revelation, ever since he was given an opportunity.

Davis now looks set to become Villa’s number one striker – due to Kodjia’s and Hogan’s absences – but Hepburn-Murphy may fancy his chances of making a break through.

The 19-year-old forward has scored prolifically at youth level for Villa, but his chances have been very limited this term.

Hepburn-Murphy has played just 21 minutes of football in Villa’s first-team, when he was given a run out in the EFL Cup.

But Hepburn-Murphy surely is in with a good shout of featuring more prominently from now, and it will be up to the forward to take his chance, to prove he is ready to start featuring for the senior squad more regularly.
