Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told The Chronicle that he thinks Ryan Fraser will be a ‘big favourite’ with fans.
The Magpies were busy last week, bringing in Jamal Lewis, Callum Wilson and his former Bournemouth teammate Fraser.
Lewis and Wilson both started in the 2-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday evening, suggesting that this could be the start of an exciting Newcastle side.
Fraser wasn’t deemed ready to play, but he could start against Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
That would be the ideal time to get the Scot some playing time, given that he hasn’t played since June having left Bournemouth.
Fraser will likely be a slow burn for Newcastle as he looks to build up his fitness, but Bruce has offered words of encouragement now.

Bruce has told The Chronicle that Fraser has kept himself in ‘remarkable’ condition, and predicted that he will be a big fan favourite at Newcastle once he plays.
“He’s kept himself in remarkable condition but mark my words, from what I’ve seen in the few training sessions he’s had, he’ll be a big favourite with the Newcastle fans,” he added.
