Aston Villa are due to take on Steve Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday side this weekend.
Bruce was sacked by Villa earlier this season, and his relationship with many claret and blues fans had deteriorated.
Many Villa fans could be heard chanting against Bruce before he was eventually let go.
But Bruce, who is now in charge at Wednesday, insists that his time at Villa Park should be reflected on positively.
He said: “I think it’ll be one of them when people look in a couple of years, when the rawness goes away, and say he didn’t do a bad job.
“I inherited a team which had took 16, 17 points in the season before, one of the worst records in the Premier League. They hadn’t won away from home in 18 months. There was only Burton and Millwall and Ipswich that spent less money than we did in 2018. I can give you all sorts.”
Bruce’s new Wednesday side are due to take on Villa this weekend in a huge match for both sides.
Wednesday are looking to catch Villa and take their play off spot, with just seven games remaining this term.
Villa are currently in sixth spot – four points clear of the Owls.
