Aston Villa are reportedly trying to sign Joe Ledley, who has been a long-term target of Steve Bruce.
According to a report in The Sun, Aston Villa are making a move to sign Joe Ledley this summer – and it could give Steve Bruce the chance to link up with a player he has had his eye on for a very long time.
Bruce spotted Ledley’s potential way back in 2009, when he was a youngster playing for Cardiff City.
The Villa boss, who was then in charge of Wigan Athletic, was prepared to stake £6 million to sign Ledley (The Telegraph).
However, Bruce was unable to complete a deal at the time – with Ledley eventually opting to move to Celtic.
Ledley has since been unobtainable for Bruce, but he may have a chance to finally secure the Welsh international’s signature this summer.
Villa are keen to bring the 30-year-old to Villa Park, with his contract at Crystal Palace set to expire at the end of the month.
Villa face a host of competition for Ledley, but they are keen to get a deal done.
If Ledley was to move to Villa he would help to strengthen their Midlands side’s midfield options, ahead of the new campaign.
