The reported Newcastle United target is a big fan of the player released at St James’s Park.

According to The Independent, Newcastle United are interested in hiring Steve Bruce.
The Magpies are on the hunt for Rafael Benitez’s long-term successor on Tyneside after the Spanish manager left the club earlier this month.
And if Bruce does get the job, he might be disappointed that one of his favourite players was released by Newcastle.
Mo Diame was cut loose by United last month and there were reports from The Sun in June that the 32-year-old was set to sign a £100,000-a-week deal with Qatari side Al Gharafa.
This is a player who Bruce is hugely fond of, having worked with him at Hull City.
Speaking to The Yorkshire Post three years ago, Bruce described Diame – who fired the Tigers to Premier League promotion that year with a winner in the playoffs – as a ‘class act’.
He said: “We all knew from the moment we signed him that he’s a class act and he’s getting back to somewhere near where we think he is. Let’s be fair, he’s too good for this division when he’s playing like he is.”
It’s worth pointing out that it doesn’t seem like Diame has officially moved to the Middle East just yet, so if Bruce is hired by Newcastle then maybe, just maybe, he might try and tempt the Senegal powerhouse back on a free transfer.
