Aston Villa have failed to win any of their first three Championship matches this season.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told the Daily Mirror that although everyone thinks he has millions to spend, that could not be further from the truth.

Bruce insists that Villa only have a limited budget this season, meaning his options in the transfer market are restricted.

But, despite his side’s terrible start to the season, Bruce insists that he is still the right man for the job.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce looks on during the Pre-Season Friendly between AFC Telford United and Aston Villa at New Bucks Head Stadium on July 12, 2017 in Telford, England.

“Everybody thinks I have got millions to spend. The truth is we haven’t and that is not the answer,” he said.

“The reason I probably got the job is they trust me to do it and eventually I will get a team together.”

Bruce may feel as if he will get a team together at Villa, but he is running out of time to find the winning formula.

Villa have lost their last two matches to Cardiff City and Reading, which has seen the pressure mount on his job.

Sections of claret and blues support are now calling for Bruce to be sacked, with Villa languishing near the bottom of the Championship table at this early stage of the season.

Villa are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Norwich City, and they simply cannot afford another defeat.
