Villa earned a 2-0 win over Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

Steve Bruce has hit back at Aston Villa fans immediately after the 2-0 win over Rotherham United on BBC Radio WM after deciding to play Mile Jedinak at centre-back.
Villa are lacking in options at centre-back after John Terry and Chris Samba left the club permanently, while Bruce allowed Tommy Elphick joined Hull City on loan. A move to sign Harold Moukoudi failed on deadline day.
Axel Tuanzebe had been playing alongside captain James Chester. but Bruce opted to play Australian veteran centre-back Jedinak over the Manchester United loanee as Villa won their first match in seven over Paul Warne’s side.
Bruce has been criticised for playing players out of position and fans questioned their manager on Twitter prior to the match, with Jedinak recognised as a midfielder. But Bruce hit back on BBC Radio WM.
“I’m not doing my job properly,” Bruce said, in response to fans’ criticism. “Don’t tell me that Jedinak can’t play centre half.”

Villa had gone without a win for six league and cup matches, which saw a promising start of three straight wins fall flat on its face. Despite that run of form, they remain in the top-six places in sixth.
Bruce will be hoping to develop some form of momentum on Saturday afternoon as Villa play host to Sheffield Wednesday, and will be watching on as Wednesday travel to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening prior to Saturday’s clash.
