The Aston Villa youngster has had to endure plenty of ups and downs throughout his career.

Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing 3-1 defeat at Fulham yesterday, and urged Jack Grealish to focus on working hard in training, and stressed the need for the youngster to become a better professional, as quoted but the Birmingham Mail.

The Villans have been very poor for the majority of their campaign this term, despite the odd resurgence in form, and Grealish’s inconsistency has been symptomatic of his team’s overall performance in the Championship.

The 21-year-old is arguably as well-known for his misdemeanours off the field as he is for his performance on it, and must start to dedicate himself more to the game than he has done in previous years, if he is to fulfil his potential.

And Bruce explained how he subscribes to that notion, when speaking to reporters, stressing that the Villa star needs to knuckle down and work hard if he is to reach the levels that he is undoubtedly capable of, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“He’s got to be a better professional and stop hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons,” said Bruce. There’s never any doubt about Jack Grealish’s ability. When he scores a goal like that and reminds us about his ability then of course we’re going to talk about him.”

Grealish has made 30 appearances for Bruce’s side this term, and his stats are pretty underwhelming to say the least, with just four goals and two assists to his name.

Next season will be a vitally important one for the 21-year-old, who cannot keep falling back on the excuse that he is still inexperienced and needs time to learn the game, because in the world of football, he cannot be considered a ‘youngster’ anymore.
