Aston Villa fans will be disappointed with their side’s overall performance in the Championship this season.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce
Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Burton Albion yesterday, and shared a message of gratitude for the Aston Villa fans, who continue to travel with the team in vast numbers, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Yesterday’s draw against Nigel Clough’s men all but ended the Villans hopes of making a late push for the play-off places, with 11 points now separating themselves and sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, with only five Championship games remaining.
The Midlands club have been woeful on the road this term, winning just four games away from Villa Park all season long.
And Bruce praised the Villa fans for how they have continued to back the side, despite enduring what has been an extremely challenging season, as quoted by AVFC.co.uk:
“I don’t know what more I can say. They’ve come here and I think if we’d have got 6,000 we’d have sold our allocation. For their support, we’re always grateful.”
Villa’s main aim for the remainder of the campaign must now surely be to finish the season as strongly as possible, and maintain whatever momentum they do have through the off-season and on into the next campaign, because for a club of their size, Premier League football is an absolute necessity.
