Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has delivered a latest injury update at his pre-match press conference ahead of the home clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

Villa will go into the game against Rovers looking to extend their unbeaten start to life under the former Birmingham City manager by going a fifth straight game without defeat.

They will be able to welcome back young winger Jack Grealish after the 21-year-old served the final game of his three-match suspension against Blues last Sunday.

Bruce revealed that the England under-21 international had also been ill during his period of absence but confirmed that he was selected for a development squad game to ensure that he played some football during his ban.

Bruce said, via the Birmingham Mail: “Jack Grealish is OK and is in the squad. It was important that Jack played a bit of football so it was an ideal game for him, although he wasn’t too well last weekend. We’ve used that reserve game to get them all a little bit of game time.”

The Villa boss also went on to assert that Grealish’s fellow winger Albert Adomah will be fit to take part despite being substituted with a knock at St. Andrew’s.

However, he confirmed that defensive duo Micah Richards and Leandro Bacuna, the latter of whom has impressed in midfield in recent weeks, will not yet be fit to return after missing out on featuring in the derby.

Bruce continued: “Albert will be OK. Micah won’t make it, with Leo it might be a little bit too early.”

The only other piece of news divulged by Bruce was confirmation that Jordan Ayew will miss out through suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season against Blues.

“We’ve lost Ayew but everybody else is OK,” Bruce finished.
