Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce discusses Tottenham loanee Josh Onomah qualities.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce, speaking to the club’s official website explained why Josh Onomah could prove to be a big asset for the Championship side this season.
“Josh is something different that we haven’t got. He’s a forward runner from midfield. As you can see, he’s big and strong and athletic”, he said.

The 20-year old came on for the last 12 minutes of the Championship opener against Hull City, as the Villans dropped two points against the recently relegated side.
“He will have enjoyed his debut and I think he will be a big asset to us. Josh has got something that we wanted. We are delighted we’ve got him”, Steve Bruce continued.
“He can play anywhere in midfield – whether it is number six, eight or ten. He can play off the front. With Jack Grealish being out for a long time, I thought it was important to have someone who can drop the shoulder and go past somebody and he has all of that”, the former Hull City manager concluded.
Josh Onomah was undoubtedly one of England’s best players in the U20 World Cup and is rated very highly at his parent club Tottenham. The move could ultimately prove to be a great learning curve for the Spurs youngster.
Although Mauricio Pochettino likes to keep his young players at the club, he will be the happiest man if Onomah gets regular game time in the Championship.
The 20-year-old can play across the midfield four, and was predominantly played as a right sided midfielder by Mauricio Pochettino during Tottenham’s pre-season games. However, as can be inferred from his manager’s comments he sees him as a replacement for the injured Jack Grealish.
With Villa scheduled to take on Colchester next week, the youngster could perhaps find himself starting as the number 10 after Henri Lansbury’s very average showing against the Tigers.
