Aston Villa have recovered from their woeful mid-season dip, and are in the midst of an impressive run of form.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke to the media during his post-match press conference, and shared how the only way he could mix things up during yesterday’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday was by playing some of his players out of position, with limited options available to him from the bench due to the club’s injury crisis, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
The Midlands outfit now sit in 12th position in the Championship table, after recording four wins from their last five outings, but their hopes of making the play-offs appear to be dead and buried, with 14 points separating them and sixth placed Wednesday.
Their recent form has been made all the more impressive when it is considered that they are in the midst of a mini injury crisis.
Bruce’s options have been severely limited in recent weeks, and the Villa boss explained how his tactics were affected by that during yesterday’s win over the Owls, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“I had three centre-halves on the bench and thought how do I make a different sub. I had to play people out of position for necessity. Albert has played up top before and I thought he did very well, second half in particular.”
Next up on the agenda for the Villans is a trip to relegation threatened Wigan Athletic, before back-to-back home games against Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers respectively.
And if they manage to take nine points from those outings, they might just have to re-evaluate their targets for the season, depending on how those above them in the table perform over the coming weeks.
