Aston Villa have been backed by large numbers on the road and at home this season.
Steve Bruce has told Aston Villa’s official website that he is still working on rebuilding the relationship between players and fans at Villa Park.
Bruce is still unbeaten since taking charge of Villa, and the Midlands club are improving rapidly.
The claret and blues have quickly climbed up the Championship table, to increase optimism around Villa Park.
However, Bruce insists that the Villans still have a long way to go until they prove they are worthy of the support that Villa fans have given them.
“When a club is relegated in a certain manner – the way it was – there’s going to be disharmony from the supporters because they don’t want to see their team go down,” he said.
“They want to cheer their team on and have a team that they can support and enjoy watching.
“We have obviously had to turn that around. We have had small shoots of recovery, that’s all they are at the moment though.
“They have showed their loyalty and what the club means to them. It’s up to us to produce a team that is worthy of that support.
“Hopefully we will get there eventually. There has been improvement. Let’s hope we can keep that going.”
Villa have regularly sold out their away allocations, and their average attendance at home remains one of the highest in the division.
The Villans’ supporters have stuck with their side, despite a disastrous relegation last season.
Villa initially showed signs that they could struggle in the Championship, but since bringing Bruce in they have been much better.
Villa have gone unbeaten in their first six matches under Bruce’s guidance, and they are now in 16th place in the Championship table.
