Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce faces going into the new season with almost all his key players from last season still in his squad.
Steve Bruce has told Sky Sports that the change at Aston Villa has been ‘remarkable’.
Villa had gone into the summer with fears that they could lose almost all their valuable assets.
The claret and blues were facing a battle with Financial Fair Play, after spending heavily last season.
However, a new takeover has injected cash back into Villa, and a massive change has occurred.
Bruce’s side now look able to keep most of their key players, with Jack Grealish still at Villa Park as things stand.
And Bruce said: “Ten or 12 days ago, everybody was for sale and now we are in a situation where no one is for sale, so it is quite a remarkable change.
“When the club flew out to see me in Portugal after Steve [Round] had left and told me the problems, I did not think they were as huge as they were – I did not think of takeovers or if we had to sell Grealish, Kodjia or Chester.”
Villa are back in action later this evening, as they play their first competitive game since their play off final defeat to Fulham.
Bruce’s side take on Hull City in their opening game of the Championship season, as Villa look to build on the increasing levels of optimism around the club.
