Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Fernando Forestieri is a player he’s looking forward to working with.

Forestieri has had a very limited impact at Wednesday this season, as he has struggled with injury.

The Argentine was brought straight back into Bruce’s starting line-up for his first game in charge at the weekend, which came against Ipswich Town.

And when asked which player he was most excited to link up with, Bruce said: “It would be wrong to pick out one, but I have always thought Forestieri is a real good player.

“It was good to see him back at Ipswich. I thought he showed glimpses of what a good player he is. It will be interesting to see how he is and if we can keep him fit.”

Bruce’s side won his first game in charge at Wednesday, with Lucas Joao scoring a late winner.

Forestieri was central to a lot of the Owls’ good play in the contest, but he also missed a number of opportunities.

Wednesday’s win over Ipswich has lifted them up to 16th place in the Championship table, with their next match coming against Reading at the weekend.
