Steve Bruce has hinted to the Northern Echo that he wants to sign a striker at Newcastle United.
Newcastle broke their transfer record to bring on Joelinton last summer, but the deal hasn’t worked out as hoped.
The Brazilian has struggled badly to find the back of the net, and still only has two Premier League goals to his name.
Bruce now wants to use Joelinton from a wide area, which means Newcastle will be hunting for a new number nine in the summer.
“I think we need four or five players to add to the squad of players we’ve got,” Bruce said. “So, we’ll go to work on that.
“I’ve always said with Jo (Joelinton), I think he’s better playing to a side, that suits him, so it’s quite possible that a centre-forward could be on the list, yeah.”
If Newcastle can find a finisher it should help them increase their goal threat significantly.

Joelinton has not been the only Newcastle striker who has struggled to hit the back of the net with regularity this term, with Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll also failing to rack up many goals.
Gayle seems to be Newcastle’s first-choice up-front at the moment, but question marks remain over his ability to score consistently in the Premier League.
Newcastle drew 0-0 with Brighton last night, in a rather drab affair of very few chances.
