Aston Villa are set to take on Hull City on Saturday.

Steve Bruce has confirmed to Aston Villa’s official website that his side will not alter much for the first game of the season from the one which played against Watford last weekend.

Villa drew 0-0 with Watford in their final non-competitive match, with Bruce now having a week to work with his team on the training ground before the Championship season starts.

And Bruce is not planning to make wholesale changes to his squad for the contest.

He said: “I’ve got an idea. You won’t be far away with what we had against Watford.”

Villa had new signings Ahmed Elmohamady, John Terry and Glenn Whelan involved against Watford from the start, and the trio are all likely to feature against Hull too.

An enforced change which Bruce will have to make against the Tigers is replacing Jack Grealish.

The attacking midfielder has picked up an injury which will keep him out of action for three months.

Villa are under pressure to start the season well, as they head into the new campaign as one of the promotion favourites.

The claret and blues could only finish in mid-table last term, but there is an expectation that they’ll improve massively this time around.
