Aston Villa are set to take on Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup tomorrow evening.

Steve Bruce has suggested to Aston Villa’s official website that he will make changes, when his side take on Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup tomorrow.

Villa won 3-0 against Barnsley in their latest Championship fixture, with the Midlands side putting in their finest performance of the season to date.

However, Bruce has suggested that he will continue to rotate in the League Cup – rather than build on the momentum gained from the victory at Oakwell.

Villa are now expected to name a line-up with some of the fringe players, with Tommy Elphick certain to start.

Bruce said: “Some need to play in the Carabao Cup.

“It’s a platform I have used for the younger ones. But others need a game like Tommy Elphick.

“We will look at that and we will pick a team that will hopefully win on Tuesday.”

Villa have reached this stage of the competition by getting past lower league opponents in the form of Colchester United and Wigan Athletic.

If Villa do turn to the youngsters, then the likes of Callum O’Hare, Andre Green and Keinan Davis could all be in line to feature.

Villa are currently sat six places behind Middlesbrough in the Championship table, with both sides expected to be in the promotion shake-up at the end of the season.
