Aston Villa have dropped Pierluigi Gollini for their last two matches.
Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that he doesn’t believe Pierluigi Gollini can cope with starting for Aston Villa every week.
Gollini has been taken out of Villa’s team in recent weeks, with Mark Bunn replacing him in goal.
And Bruce admits that he feels Gollini doesn’t have enough experience to be the claret and blues’ number one.
“I just thought at the time to bring him (Bunn) in,” Bruce said. “He gives you that bit of experience I think he’s got.
“I just felt with young Pier, it was a bit too much for him. There’s not many playing at 21. I find him very young.”
Gollini was brought to Villa last summer by Roberto Di Matteo, but he has made errors in his first few months at the club.
The Italian has not looked particularly secure in goal, and there are some question marks over his future at Villa Park already starting to form.
Gollini has been dropped for Villa’s last two matches, with Bunn seemingly becoming Bruce’s new first choice goalkeeper.
With Bunn in goal, Villa have won their last two matches – against Queens Park Rangers and Burton Albion – to move up to 10th place in the Championship table.
