Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has said what Mike Ashley has just told him over a call after the match against Liverpool, as quoted in The Chronicle.

The Magpies have suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at St. James’ Park in their final Premier League game of the season this evening.

After the match, Bruce spoke to Newcastle owner Mike Ashley, and he has shared what they talked about.

The Chronicle quotes Bruce as saying: “He just wanted to say a thank you to everyone for the hard work and have a good summer. That was it.

“(No) update (on the takeover). It’s still there with the Premier League and we’ll have to see what happens there.”

Good season for Newcastle United

Newcastle have finished 13th in the Premier League table this season with 44 points from 38 matches.

Bruce’s team have ended up as many as 10 points above the relegation zone, and it has been quite a successful campaign for the team.

Next season

Newcastle fans should be looking forward to next season, as things could be very interesting for the team.

Bruce has done a good job, and if he gets financial backing in the summer transfer window and is able to sign some quality players before the campaign gets underway, then the team could be pushing for a top-10 finish in the Premier League table next season.
