Aston Villa’s mixed start to the season continued with a defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has claimed his side will be working on their defence during the next week after a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The Midlands giants lost 2-1 at home to the Owls, as goals from Marco Matias and Steven Fletcher secured the three points for the visitors.
But Villa midfielder John McGinn did net a stunning volley that will surely be in the mix for goal of the season at the end of the campaign.
Villa are stranded in mid-table of the Championship after an average start and have been unable to show the kind of form that helped them reach the play-off finals last season.
Bruce explained after the weekend defeat that he’s keen to improve on his backline before the next mach and says it will be a focus in training.
“When you are constantly having to score three that’s something. As a team we’ve conceded far too many goals this year and is something we have to amend straight away before we start thinking about going forward. That’s what we will work on this week,” Bruce said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Villa certainly have a talented group of players that look one of the strongest on paper in the Championship, but are relying on too many individual moments right now.
They travel to Bristol City on Friday in their next game and are now in desperate need of a consistent run of results.
