Sheffield Wednesday, Celtic and Burnley are reportedly keen on Motherwell’s David Turnbull this summer.
It could be a sense of deja vu for Celtic in these coming months. Last summer, then-Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce snapped up John McGinn ahead of Celtic, with the midfielder helping the Midlands outfit to promotion.
Now, Bruce could be snapping up yet another talent Scottish player ahead of Celtic, with his new club Sheffield Wednesday keen on the services of David Turnbull.
The Scottish Sun.have claimed that the Championship club have joined the race for the goal machine and the Yorkshire club would be willing to pay the £3million Motherwell want for his services.
Celtic recently claimed on their official Twitter account that they have offered the 19-year-old a ‘fantastic offer’ as they have not been able to come to an agreement with the player’s agent in regards to pushing a deal over the line.
When the Scottish Premiership champions announced that news, the first name that would have popped into many people’s minds would have been McGinn’s and what Celtic missed out on considering the stunning performances he put in for Villa last term.
But it could be sense of ‘here we go again’ with the Bhoys if Wednesday do push on for a deal with Turnbull, especially with Bruce in the dugout.
Even though the Englishman didn’t last the whole of the previous campaign at Villa, he played his part in spotting the talent of McGinn, and he could be doing the same with Turnbull.
The left-footed attacker has impressed one and all in the Premiership last term and he has proven that he is ready to take the next step in his career.
Moving to either Celtic or Wednesday would provide that step up for Turnbull, but if the Bhoys lose out on another talented Premiership player and he goes on to produce the goods then it will not sit well with the Parkhead faithful.
