Aston Villa are known to be on the look out for a new striker, with Steve Bruce not happy with his current options.

Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Aston Villa are not making moves for either Jack Wilshere or Jack Colback.

Villa have been linked with both Arsenal’s Wilshere and Newcastle United’s Colback recently.

However, Bruce insists that neither player is on his radar, and the speculation is unfounded.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce looks on during the Pre-Season Friendly between AFC Telford United and Aston Villa at New Bucks Head Stadium on July 12, 2017 in Telford, England.

When quizzed on whether he wanted Jack Wilshere, Bruce said: “[There’s] nothing in it.”

And in the following question, about his interest in Jack Colback, he added: “I don’t know where that has come from.”

Both Wilshere and Colback would have boosted Villa’s midfield options, but they are likely to be out of his side’s price range.

Bruce has suggested that Villa do not have millions to spend, but they are still looking for new additions.

And one of those players is Southampton striker Sam Gallagher.

Bruce said: “Every club in the Championship has been linked with him. It’s something we’re looking at us. He interests us yes.”

Gallagher spent last season on loan at Blackburn in the Championship, and scored 11 goals over the course of the season.

Villa have failed to win any of their first three Championship matches this season, and take on Norwich City tomorrow under a significant amount of pressure to get three points.
