Aston Villa are due to face Burton Albion in Championship action tomorrow.
Grabban has joined Villa on loan from Bournemouth for the remainder of the season.
However, the striker has not played much for the Cherries recently, and Bruce feels that it would be too big a risk to throw him into Villa’s team.
“Tomorrow might be too early for him,” Bruce said, ahead of Villa’s match against Burton Albion.
“He hasn’t played for a month, so I’m looking at the situation to say do we train him for the next eight, nine, ten days.
“It’s fair to say he hasn’t done much since he’s gone back to Bournemouth, he was honest and open about that. The last thing we want to do is put him out there and he pulls a muscle.”
In Grabban’s absence, Scott Hogan is likely to continue up front for Villa.
Hogan has been in fine form over recent weeks, and the former Brentford man will be looking to impress, to ensure that he keeps his place.
Grabban scored goals aplenty during his spell at Sunderland earlier in the campaign, and the hope is that he can show this sort of form again at Villa.
If Bruce can find another goalscorer, it could be enough to drive Villa into the top two, as they aim to return to the Premier League.
