Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told BBC Sport that he will put out a young line-up in the FA Cup against Peterborough United on Saturday.

Villa go into the game against Grant McCann’s side as the favourites to progress, but Bruce is eager to give his young players a chance to impress.

Villa have a whole host of promising prospects, who are pushing for first-team places, but have found their chances limited in the league.

But Bruce will hand opportunities to Callum O’Hare, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Andre Green and Keinan Davis this weekend.

“The future of the club belongs to them,” he said. “We’ve got some excellent young players.

“Callum O’Hare, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Andre Green, who will play on Saturday, and Keinan Davis, who is already in and around it. Throw them in. Why not?”

Villa go into the match against Peterborough on the back of a brilliant 5-0 victory over Bristol City.

It remains to be seen how seriously Bruce will take the FA Cup this season, as the claret and blues are pushing hard for promotion.

Villa may not want to risk putting out a full strength line up, in case they suffer with more injuries.

Peterborough, meanwhile, head into the match having failed to win either of their last two outings in League One.
