Aston Villa are yet to make a new signing in the January transfer window.
Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Aston Villa are close to signing two players.
Villa are looking towards the loan market to secure added quality for their squad during the second half of the season.
The claret and blues have already had great success bringing in players on temporary deals, with the likes of Sam Johnstone, Josh Onomah and Robert Snodgrass all becoming key players after signing on loan.
And Bruce is hoping to repeat the trick again this month, with one signing close to completion.
“I think everybody knows and understands the situation we’re in,” Bruce said.
“I think I’ve been pretty clear. With the financial situation at the club, we’re not in a position to spend millions.
“However, if we look to go down the loan route which has been really positive for us, even at the start of the season with Sam.
“We’ll try and go down that route, we’re close to one of two things to bring in.
“Until you get them over the line, then you can’t really reveal.
“We’re particularly close on one – let’s hope it can happen.”
Villa are yet to make an addition this month, but they have been linked with a range of players.
The claret and blues are expected to strengthen up-front as a matter of urgency, as their current options are limited.
Villa have suffered badly with injury, and have had to rely heavily on youngster Keinan Davis as a result.
Villa are in fifth place in the Championship table as things stand, with their next match coming against Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
