Aston Villa are set to take on Preston North End at the weekend.
Steve Bruce has confirmed in the Birmingham Mail that Andre Green will definitely be involved in Aston Villa’s match against Preston North End this weekend.
Green came off the substitutes’ bench during Villa’s last match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and made an impact.
Although the youngster was not able to help Villa from falling to a 1-0 defeat, he still made a positive impression and was one of very few claret and blues players to come out of the game at Molineux with any credit.
The youngster’s reward for his impressive performance could now be a start against Preston, with Bruce suggesting he has been very impressed with the 18-year-old.
“He is very much in my thoughts, I have been very pleased with him and two or three of the youngsters,” Bruce said.
“If they are going to show in training or do well when they get a chance, I am going to use them.
“He did very well against Wolves and we had more crosses in the box in the last 20 minutes with him on the pitch, that was mainly down to Andre.
“I will decide whether to start him, but he will definitely be involved.”
Green is regarded as one of Villa’s top prospects, and he has received some match action this season.
Green has played eight times for the claret and blues, but he is still yet to make a league start for the Midlands club.
If Villa can beat Preston at the weekend, they could move up to 11th place in the Championship table, and close the gap on the play off places down to seven points.
