Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron has now gone 14 games without scoring since moving to St. James’ Park.

Almiron has come in for criticism at Newcastle, as his goal drought continues.
The Paraguayan international moved to St. James’ Park in January, but he still has not hit the back of the net for the Magpies.
Almiron has now gone 14 games without scoring for Newcastle, and was guilty of squandering two excellent opportunities against Watford at the weekend.
But Bruce thinks that Almiron will come good for Newcastle, as he has seen enough from the attacker in training to suggest that he can score at Premier League level.
“He just needs to get one of those opportunities to fall for him, and he gets a goal,” Bruce said, after Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Watford.
“Since I’ve walked through the door, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at what a good player he is.
“He’s a really good player and of course he needs to add that finishing touch to his game, but it will come. I see how he works in training. He scores goals in training, but it’s a bit different doing it in front of 50,000 people and he probably just snatches at it a little bit.”

Almiron has played both as a central striker and as a wide-man for Newcastle so far this term, but the goals have not flowed in either position.
Almiron was a fairly reliable scorer in MLS, so has proven he can hit the back of the net, although the Premier League is obviously a big step up from that level.
Newcastle are next in action after the international break when they take on Liverpool at Anfield.
