Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce gives his opinion on Leeds United’s promotion chances.
Ahead of Aston Villa’s Championship fixture against Leeds United, Steve Bruce has said that he expects the Whites to challenge for promotion this season.
Leeds made a wonderful start to the season, but a slump in form since September has seen them dropping off the pace.
Thomas Christiansen’s side lost seven of their last 10 games in the Championship, and find themselves in the eight place, with 29 points, six points behind Aston Villa and 15 points behind league leaders Wolves.
Bruce believes that it is quite normal to have a blip in a marathon season, and he expects Leeds to be challenging for promotion this season.
The former Sunderland manager says that Leeds are one of the 10 clubs who can mount a challenge for promotion.
“I expect Leeds to be there or there abouts,” said Bruce, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
“They’ve got some very good players. For me, they’re one of 10 teams who can still mount a challenge. They had a wonderful start and then a blip which is normal.
“Wolves are the team that everyone has to beat. But I expect Leeds to be there too.”
The Villa manager adds that Leeds vs Villa is a great game to be involved in, and that the fixture would grace any league in the world.
He added that Leeds have a great team with some really good players, especially in the attacking front.
